    A conveyer belt of systems are lined up to move through Western Washington this weekend.

     

    A cold front is up first with scattered rain tonight and tomorrow. The good thing about this type of front is that often times, there are  sun breaks!

     Tomorrow night and into Sunday, a warm front will plow through the area. This "Warm up" will cause avalanche concerns in the mountains and passes, rain in the lowlands, breezy conditions and the possibility of a few thunderstorms. The "Heart" of this system gets cranking Sunday late afternoon/evening.

     

    Right now, Thanksgiving looks wet, but the day after shows up of drying out, but being cold. We'll keep an eye on the big shopping day as you prepare to be out in it!

    A quick note about the Battery Street Tunnel this Saturday. Seattle Deprartment of Transportation crews are going to shut down the left lane of the tunnel from 8am until 3:30pm to repair some railing in the tunnel. The right lane will remain open during the project to keep traffic moving through the area. Regardless, I would still anticipate a little extra backup getting into Seattle because of the work.     A cold front is bringing rain to our morning commute, and it is still breezy out there.  But it's not nearly as windy as it's been -- all of the wind advisories and warnings have been lifted -- and the rain tapers off to showers & sun breaks this afternoon.  We've already hit our high temp this morning, around 57.  With this cold front, temps are taking a dive.  And the snow level is dropping.  This afternoon the passes will get snow showers.  It's possible that a Puget Sound Convergence Zone could drop an extra batch of snow on Stevens Pass, or just north of Stevens.

    FLOOD WARNINGS continue on the following rivers.  Flooding is minor and rivers will be receding today.
    Satsop, Grays Harbor County,
    Bogachiel & Dungeness, Clallam County,
    Skokomish, Mason County,
    Grays River, Wahkiakum County,
    Willapa, Pacific County.

    Saturday starts out dry-ish (a few showers), but another system comes through with rain (and more mountain snow) late in the day.  Chilly -- mid 40s.

    Sunday will be showery and chilly -- mid 40s.

    Hi,

    Ah, the first avalanche control on I-90, bummer for some waiting but I do like to hear that. Why, because that means snow is up there and skiing is soon to be had. I know the snow level has been high but just getting a base is what we really need right now anyway. And heavy snow is a perfect bass. Let the season really get going. I do have cold air heading in Friday through Sunday so a good riding weekend is on tap. But first we have to get through another round of wind and rain here in the lowlands tonight. Stormy night ahead with gusty winds. Strongest gusts north of Seattle. Friday could bring some Isolated thunderstorms. Big time mountain snow Friday night. Winter Storm Watch now posted. Next week looks less stormy with periods of dry weather and just passing showers with mild temperatures. Not bad actually after all this stormy weather. Thanksgiving looks ok. Just passing showers.     I started working at Puget Sound Orthopaedics the beginning on October  as a Medical Assistant and loved my job more than anything! I did a great job and worked really hard. I would help everyone and to what i thought i was going above and beyond my job description. I was constantly praised for my good behavior and got a coin for doing a "great job", or so i thought. On 11-16-09 i had a severe panic attack that almost put me in the hospital. my blood pressure was dangerously high and it was one of the scariest moments of my life, i thought i was going to die! I was not able to work that day. I went there and told my manager "i think i need to go the the ER I DONT FEEL OK!" she said ok bring a note.... so i did... and the next day she called me into her office and said i am bbeing terminated for not "keeping up with the pace" and i wasnt catching on... can we say law suit? she fired me because of my severe illness and claimed it was becasue i wasnt catching on. when i know for a fact i was an excellent employee. Discrimination is a serious thing and should not be tolerated. becasue of her i am losing my home and unable to let alone feed my self becaue she fired me on such short notice and my check was already spent.....If anyone has been discrimanated at wrok and had the same situation please tell me what you did.

    HIGH WIND WARNING until Midnight for the North Interior -- gusts up to 60 mph from the South, and for the Coast -- gusts up to 70 mph from the South.  Powerful winds through Seattle also, gusting up to 40 mph.

    FLOOD WARNINGS continue for the Skokomish, Satsop and Bogachiel Rivers.  DO NOT DRIVE THROUGH STANDING WATER!

    FRIDAY:  Rainy & breezy.

    SATURDAY:  Rainy with highs in the mid 40s.  More mountain snow.

    guess what another storm...This one will bring massive snow to the mountains, skiers get ready. 36 inches of fresh above 4000 feet. So, here we go, Now through Friday midday. Damaging winds, gusts, 45 in Seattle, gusts, 60 North Interior, gusts, 70 at the coast. This will come in two waves. Tonight and Thursday night, but expect both periods to be at the same strength. Rainfall will be heavy and the mountains could get 4 - 9 inches (rain) below 4000 feet. This will cause more river flooding especially rivers/streams off of the Olympics and North Cascades.     Today is my 12 year anniversary here at Q13 Fox News. I arrived in Seattle and started working November 17, 1997. We were just a start up then. We trained with for a bit and launched Seattle's newest NEWS in January of 1998. Those were some great and crazy times. On to the weather. Another storm is headed our way. We are going to get a lot of mountain snow, rain down low and more strong gusty winds. This next storm starts Wednesday evening. I'm expecting 3 feet of new snow above 4000 feet. Great news for ski areas after they took a beating with this last warmer storm. Thursday will be wet and windy for all. Even Friday morning looks pretty wet and gusty. If you plan to travel in the mountains expect wintry driving conditions. Saturday looks dry and Sunday will be stormy again.     The powerful cold front that brought winds, rain & flooding is moving out.  The rest of the day we will be under a trough of low pressure.  This means unstable air -- showers, breezy (but not as windy), cooler (highs near 50), and a lowering snow level, so snow at pass level again, though it's not expected to cause travel trouble.

    The wind advisories have been lifted.  It's still breezy out, but we're not expected to have damaging winds the rest of the day.

    The rivers will be receding today as the rain subsides and mountain precipitation turns to snow.  However, there are still FLOOD WARNINGS on 4 of our rivers:

    Skokomish at Potlatch in Mason County,
    Stillaguamish at Arlington in Snohomish County,
    Satsop at Satsop in Grays Harbor County, and 
    Dungeness at Sequim in Clallam County.

    DO NOT DRIVE THROUGH STANDING WATER!

    We also have a Coastal Flood Advisory until 4 p.m. this afternoon and a High Surf Advisory through 8 p.m.  DO NOT WALK ON OUR OCEAN BEACHES TODAY!

    Wednesday -- More rain and wind late, overnight into Thursday.

    Thursday -- numerous showers.

    Friday -- showers.
