This is our dog, Roper. He has helped me sing songs to our baby boy Trenton since Trenton came home from the hospital. Roper's favorite is singing the 'dog's part' in Old McDonald had a Farm. Enjoy

Local band, Uncommon Knowledge, and local artist Carrie Hughes, banded together to create a beautifully, haunting tribute to the troops this Veterans' Day. Uncommon Knowledge band members Mathieu Gaultier, Kelsey Gilman, Hannah Ginn and Sam Sterns lent their song to artist Carrie Hughes. She went to work breathing life into their lyrics and haunting melody to create a video that shows the human side of our troops.
Something else I put together a little while back. I had fun doing this one also.
Just something I thought of interest that I put together recently and would like to share with whomever.
(Clear Creek, North Kitsap) A Poulsbo couple and their son are unharmed after loosing their shop and home to a fire this evening around 6:30 pm on Clear Creek, just south of Finn Hill.
Poulsbo Fire Department, Navy Region Northwest, North Kitsap Fire and Rescue, and Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and more than 20 firefighters battled the blaze. The fire, which began in the shop and spread to the nearby mobile home, was still smoldering four hours later.
The shop housed a 1977 Chevy Lowrider. All of the couple’s belongings in the mobile home are a loss and they were not insured. Total damage estimates are unavailable at this time.
The couple was home at the time of the fire. The 40 year old woman said, “I heard strange noises, like someone was walking on the roof. When I went outside to ask my husband what that noise was, I noticed flames coming from our shop roof.” The 48 year old husband then alerted his 25 year old son, who was asleep in a nearby motor home. Their dog escaped the fire but ran off and is still missing.

A Spokane man is airlifted after a motor vehicle collision on State Highway 3 near Poulsbo
(Poulsbo, North Kitsap County) Poulsbo Fire Department, Navy Region NW, and North Kitsap Fire and Rescue responded to the scene of a two car motor vehicle collision this afternoon just before 3pm on Highway 3 just north of the Keyport exit.
A Spokane couple driving a Chevy Malibu veered off the highway and into the thick brush and trees after colliding with a Land Rover Discovery SUV. The man, in his mid-forties, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center’s trauma unit and his 49 year old female passenger was taken to Harrison Hospital in Bremerton. Their small dog was uninjured. The Land Rover was driven by a 57 year old Bremerton woman and she was uninjured.
Highway 3 was closed to one lane for approximately one hour while the Washington State Patrol investigated the incident. Kitsap County Sheriff’s Deputies were also on scene and cared for the couple’s small dog.
(Poulsbo, North Kitsap County) A 35 year old Shelton man was transported to Harrison Hospital in Bremerton for serious injuries after he fell approximately 15 feet onto a cement floor. The worker was beginning his decent into one of the concrete vault-type pontoons which hold up the Hood Canal Floating Bridge, when he fell at 7:30 this morning.
Rescue units from Poulsbo Fire Department, Port Ludlow Fire and Rescue and Navy Region Northwest Bangor utilized technical rescue skills to extricate the victim from the vault. While crews set up heavy lifting equipment over the manhole-type opening, paramedics worked to stabilize the patient and then placed him onto a “cocoon” backboard basket prior to safely lifting the patient up and vertically out of the small opening. Paramedics originally planned to transport the patient via an Airlift NW helicopter, however due to heavy fog, were diverted to Harrison Hospital in Bremerton.
With the recent bridge closure and multi-agency technical rescue drills, crews were well prepared for this type of incident. Confined space rescues are labor intense and require highly trained technical rescue teams. Poulsbo Fire Department Battalion Chief Peterson said, “All our preparation paid off and the extrication went smoothly.” Traffic remained open on the bridge. Washington State Patrol and the Kitsap County Sheriffs office also responded to the scene. A navy submarine’s passage and subsequent bridge closure was delayed while rescue crews worked.

The North Kitsap community enjoyed an Americana Music Festival at Raab park in Poulsbo today. "My favorite part of the day was listening to local celebrity Vicci Martinez. The great music, the gorgeous weather and beautiful park setting - it was all wonderful," said Poulsbo resident Jody Matson. Multiple musicians, pie eating contests, and face painting were among the many activities. Proceeds from the day's events went to Stand Up For Kids, an organization that helps feed homeless and street kids.

Poulsbo residents narrowly escape home fire
(Poulsbo, Kitsap County) A young Poulsbo couple and their two dogs escaped unharmed this morning just before 1am in the Mesford neighborhood, near the North Kitsap High School. Poulsbo Fire Department, North Kitsap Fire and Rescue, and Navy Region Northwest responded to a residential structure fire that began in the attached garage. Crews had the fire under control in 20 minutes.
The 23 year old male and 24 year old female residents said they are just glad they are out alive. The woman said, “My dogs woke me up because they started acting crazy. When I got up, I heard the smoke alarms. We looked outside the window and noticed a glow; at first we thought it was the neighbor’s house. Then we heard explosions and realized our garage was on fire. My husband screamed to get out. It’s a good thing because we didn’t realize the fire had already spread to the house.”
Official damages are unavailable at this time, but the garage is a total loss. The fire burned through one exterior wall and the roof. The couple lost two vehicles in the fire, a VW Golf and 2009 Jeep Wagoneer. They had renter’s insurance. The Kitsap County Fire Marshal determined the fire was caused from a barbeque stored in the garage before it was completely cooled.
